SAG CONSERVATORY YOUNG PERFORMERS

The Young Performer’s hold a very special place within the SAG Conservatory. Ten week classes are held in the Spring and Fall. Each session brings a new instructor who specializes in different areas of acting. The actor receives courses in cold reading, classics, audition technique, scene study, improve and script analysis.

Once a year, the actors participate in an all day workshop. Each session has a theme pertaining to the Entertainment Industry. The day also includes Parent’s Panels. The information is geared to helping each parent learn more about the process it takes for an actor to become successful. Parent’s have the opportunity to learn from Agents, Actors, and Casting Directors in Q&A sessions that are moderated by Constance Tillotson.

One of the greatest benefits for the actor is being a part of the casting books in the American Film Institute. The directors from AFI cast projects using SAG Conservatory members. This resource is invaluable for a new actor. This is an opportunity to experience the auditioning process in a supportive environment. Once cast in a project, the actor will learn the technical part of acting: working with a camera, hitting their marks, set language while honing their craft. The short films are of excellent quality and helps to build up a reel.

Yearly registration starts in September. The cost is $10. For an application call the Conservatory office at 323.856.7736.
